George came to America as an infant with his family, and grew up south of Graafschap, MI (map of farm).
In the 1880 census he and his sister Harmtje are shown living with William and Anna Wiertink in FIllmore, MI. She's listed as a domestic servant and George as a boarder.
George was a janitor and farmer, whose land by 1913 consisted of 120 acres. He later moved to 18th Street in Holland, MI, where he was also a janitor. He remarried after Hendrieka died.
George is buried in New Overisel Cemetery (B182 G7).
